s/v PHYWAVE

Phywave is an Allures 40.9 sailboat,  43 feet long, cutter rig,  aluminum hull, with a centerboard instead of a fixed keel so it can get into shallow waters with the centerboard up.  It was built in the Allures shipyard in Cherbourg, France.  Once completed, it was transported by ship to Baltimore, Maryland, where it was offloaded so I could drive it to Annapolis for final outfitting. The boat was delivered without a boom or mainsail. I’ll had a Schaefer furling boom and Hydranet mainsail installed in Annapolis, along with a Forespar telescoping whisker pole.  The Allures shipyard couldn’t/wouldn’t install these things.  I’ll also added a 6 kW Northern Lights diesel generator, EchoTec watermaker, dodger and bimini, a 9.5 foot AB RIB dinghy, an 6 hp Yamaha outboard for the dinghy, an HF SSB radio  and Iridium GO satellite communications.

I’ve included a few photos of the boat under construction and almost completed, taken March 7, 2022. I’ve also included photos of Phywave at each of the 7 continent landings.

Below is a photo of my shop with the gear I’ve assembled for my round-the-world voyage. I’ve had to create detailed spreadsheets to keep track of everything.  After Phywave arrives in Annapolis, I’ll need to transport all this stuff from my home on Bainbridge Island, WA, to the boat in Annapolis.
